Your staff on AI: how am I actually allowed to use this?

When we introduce teams to AI, the first question is how they're allowed to use it. Vague guidance makes people freeze or make up their own rules.

We hear that almost immediately when we introduce teams to AI.

Can I upload this document? Use client information? Connect my email? Send the output straight to a customer?

These are reasonable questions. People need answers they can act on.

If the guidance is vague, some people freeze. Others make up their own rules.

Neither is a great foundation for adoption.

At Propel, we help businesses start with clear, lean guardrails:

  • Here’s what you can do.
  • Here’s what you can’t do.
  • Here’s who to ask when you’re unsure.

You can build on that as your use of AI develops. But your team needs a usable starting point now.

In the video, I explain why drawing that bright line matters.

If people need to interpret a lengthy policy before trying a useful task, you’ve made adoption harder than it needs to be.
